As a vegan I try to follow a “Raw till 4” (or high-carb/Starch Solution) style lifestyle which focuses primarily on fruit. You are supposed to eat big fruit meals at breakfast like smoothies or mono-meals, and lunch for easy digestion, huge energy levels and an abundance of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fibre. It really is the perfect diet because you can eat in abundance, no calorie restriction and you get to eat sweet fruits which satisfies your sweet tooth!
I absolutely LOVE fruit….but….for us poor souls who live in cold climates, on cold December mornings frozen banana smoothies, melons, pineapples etc. just aren’t as appealing as what they are in the Summer, which makes it harder to follow this lifestyle properly as you are drawn to warmer foods like toast and cooked breakfasts.
WARM WINTER SMOOTHIE WITH DATES
I have discovered an AMAZING smoothie recipe that contains fruit (ie. dates) AND it’s warm! absolute bonus! So technically if it’s warm it’s not 100% raw but you’re still getting in your fruit and your carbs which is what you want from a breakfast. It’s so unbelievably tasty I really don’t understand how this isn’t already a “thing” in the vegan community in places like Ireland, the UK, North America, Russia, Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Central Europe etc. This has to be a Winter staple!
